Ethical Power Seals First Solar EPC Contracts In Italy, Marking Major Expansion In Renewables

Ethical Power Italia, a part of Ethical Power Group, has secured its first solar EPC contracts in Italy. These projects involve building two solar farms for Encavis AG: the 9MW Cobu Solar Farm and the 9.3MW Massarenti Solar Farm, both located in Emilia-Romagna, Northern Italy. The farms will feature single-axis tracker systems, with the Cobu project also including a 5km MV grid connection line to the nearest access point. Construction is set to begin in early 2025, with both projects expected to be operational by the end of the year. Once complete, the farms will collectively produce around 28GWh of electricity annually.

Francesca Cavallini, Country Manager for Ethical Power Italia, stated, “As an Ethical Power Group company, drawing upon a wealth of experience gained from diverse global landscapes, we will bring a world-class approach to harnessing Italy’s abundant sunlight and deliver cutting-edge solar projects at Cobu and Massarenti. We are delighted to have signed our first contracts now with a leading European renewables company Encavis AG as a client, continuing our successful international relationship with them.”

Encavis AG has awarded its second solar EPC contract to Ethical Power Group companies. The first project, the 55MW Fundici Solar Farm in Spain, is almost complete. Earlier this month, Encavis AG acquired the Cobu and Massarenti solar projects from Hive Energy at the ready-to-build stage. Italy’s solar energy sector is expanding rapidly, with 5.23 GW of new solar capacity added in 2023, marking the highest annual growth since 2011. Ethical Power Italia is working on an additional 200MW of solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects to support the continued growth of renewables in the country.
