Enhancing Renewable Energy Integration:  A Conversation with PV Hardware’s Surmai Kaushik

Q: What are your thoughts on the current trends in solar tracking technology, and how are they shaping the future of solar energy in the Middle East?

The solar industry in the Middle East is evolving rapidly, with projects becoming larger and more complex. There is a strong focus on reducing the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), which is driving all manufacturers, developers, and EPCs to find solutions that make solar energy more cost-effective and efficient

To achieve this, we are seeing larger module sizes and bigger trackers that optimize cost-effectiveness. Companies are continuously innovating in structural design and tonnage optimization to bring down costs. This trend is only going to accelerate as the demand for solar energy continues to grow and as large-scale solar plants expand their footprint

Q: What new products or innovations are you showcasing at this event, and how do they stand out in the Middle Eastern market?

At PVH, we are excited to showcase our Infinity and other innovative solar tracking solutions, all aimed at further reducing LCOE

One of our major innovations is terrain-following trackers. These trackers help minimize earthworks on-site, which significantly reduces installation costs. Instead of modifying land to fit the trackers, our systems adapt to the natural terrain, making them ideal for the Middle East’s diverse landscapes

Additionally, we have introduced a 140-meter-long tracker, which is available in both single-row and dual-row configurations. This flexibility helps further optimize cost and efficiency. Another major innovation is the use of concrete as a structural solution, ensuring better adaptability to different terrains while maintaining structural integrity

A lot of our efforts are focused on R&D to ensure every aspect of our design is cost-effective, durable, and high-performing in the unique conditions of the Middle East

Q: How is PV Hardware addressing the unique needs and challenges of the Middle Eastern solar market through products and solutions?

The Middle Eastern solar market presents several unique challenges, from extreme temperatures and high wind speeds to corrosion concerns. At PVH, we are tackling these challenges with cutting-edge technology and localized manufacturing

One of the biggest steps we’ve taken is setting up a factory in Saudi Arabia, making us one of the only manufacturers in the region with an in-house tube mill. This is a game-changer because Saudi Arabia has a huge solar pipeline and limited tube mill suppliers. By controlling our own supply chain, we can accelerate project execution, reduce costs, and ensure faster deliveries

We’ve also designed our bi-directional Infinity tracker, which offers a stowing capability that allows it to move in any direction. This is especially important in the Middle East, where wind speeds and ramp rates can vary significantly. The tracker can stow into the safest position within just 2.5 minutes, protecting it from extreme weather conditions

Another key challenge is corrosion, which is a major concern in certain locations across the Middle East. We design our trackers for high-corrosion environments, ensuring they meet the C4 to C5 corrosion resistance standards. This enhances durability and longevity, making our products ideal for long-term solar investments in the region

Q: What role do you envision for solar trackers in enhancing renewable energy integration and grid stability across the Middle East?

Solar trackers play a critical role in making renewable energy more efficient and stable within the grid. With the increasing penetration of solar power, it’s essential to maximize energy generation and minimize intermittency. Our trackers do exactly that by optimizing solar panel angles throughout the day, ensuring the highest possible energy output

As the Middle East continues to scale up its renewable energy targets, solar trackers will be instrumental in improving grid stability. With innovations like bi-directional tracking and high-wind resilience, our solutions enhance energy predictability, which is essential for balancing supply and demand in the grid

.Furthermore, as the region moves towards hybrid energy solutions and large-scale solar farms, the need for smart and adaptable solar tracking systems will only grow. At PVH, we are committed to staying at the forefront of this transformation, ensuring that our solutions contribute to a more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solar energy landscape.
