ACME Solar Holdings Limited (ACME Solar) has secured the 450 MW (1800 MWh) assured peak power project under the SJVN FDRE-IV tender, marking a major milestone in India’s evolving renewable energy landscape. The project was awarded at a tariff of ₹6.75 per unit for 25 years, following a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process and an e-reverse auction held on October 9, 2025. The Letter of Award (LoA) was officially issued on November 10, 2025.
Project Overview and Technical Specifications
The awarded project is designed to supply 4 MWh per MW of capacity during any four-hour period within the daily peak demand window, maintaining 90% monthly availability. It will integrate 300 MW of solar power with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of approximately 1800 MWh, enabling reliable and flexible power supply to support grid stability during peak hours.
The initiative stands out as one of the few projects in India dedicated exclusively to peak power delivery, underscoring the growing importance of energy storage technologies in balancing renewable generation with fluctuating demand.
Strategic Deployment and Technology Integration
The project will leverage night-time transmission connectivity available to ACME Solar in high-irradiation zones of Rajasthan, ensuring optimal utilization of existing infrastructure and improved dispatch efficiency. Significantly, this will be ACME Solar’s first project to deploy Indian-made solar cells, listed under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II, reinforcing the company’s commitment to domestic manufacturing and the “Make in India” initiative.
