Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar presented the progress and future roadmap of Rajasthan’s energy sector at the Global Energy Leaders Summit 2025 held in Puri, Odisha. Speaking at the event on Saturday, he highlighted the achievements of Rajasthan in the renewable energy sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and said that the state has become a model for other states to follow.

He said that Rajasthan has made remarkable advancements in solar and renewable energy in recent years and has achieved leading positions in several areas. Nagar emphasized that Rajasthan is successfully implementing the ambitious PM-KUSUM scheme with the vision of transforming farmers into not only food providers but also energy providers. Under Components A and C of the scheme, around 2,470 megawatts of decentralized solar power plants have been installed across the state. Based on this installed capacity, Rajasthan has emerged as a front-runner in decentralized solar energy.

The minister also detailed the government’s initiatives in developing Battery Energy Storage Systems to support peak power requirements. He said that a storage capacity of 6000 megawatt-hours is currently under development, making Rajasthan a leader in energy storage solutions as well.

Nagar noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a goal of making India a developed and strong nation by 2047. He assured that Rajasthan is committed to contributing significantly to achieving this national target through its renewable energy efforts and technological progress.

The two-day summit was inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi. Delhi Energy Minister Ashish Sood, senior government officials, and energy sector experts also attended and participated in discussions on shaping India’s future energy plan and collaboration opportunities.
