Europe’s imports of Russian liquefied natural gas from the Yamal LNG project left the Kremlin with an estimated €7.2bn in 2025, new analysis from NGO Urgewald shows.

Data from analytics platform Kpler analysed by the Berlin-based campaign group reveals that 76.1% of Yamal LNG exports last year reached EU ports, up from 75.4% in 2024.

The figure represents roughly 15 million tonnes of gas out of Yamal’s 19.7 million tonnes of output, equivalent to one in every seven LNG ships arriving in Europe. Despite the EU’s agreement to phase out Russian LNG and pipeline gas by 2027, imports show no immediate sign of slowing in 2026.
