The clean energy arm of Pertamina Group will explore a pilot biogas to bio-methanol facility in Sumatra, Indonesia in partnership with CRecTech.
Having signed a memorandum of understanding, the partners plan to run the pilot before potentially deploying CRecTech’s catalytic technology at Pertamina’s Sei Mangkei Biogas Power Plant.
The pilot will convert biogas derived from palm oil mill effluent into crude biomethanol, according to PT Pertamina Power Indonesia.
“[The technology could] position us to unlock a genuinely new green fuel value chain, one that is grounded in Indonesian assets and aligned with the global shift toward marine decarbonisation,” said John Anix, CEO of PT PPI.
