Battery And Power Stocks Lead Green Energy Market Rally Amid Solar Sector Decline

Traders observe daily stock market reports showing growth in battery stocks and decline in solar energy stocks.

The green energy and mobility sector witnessed a mixed trading session on May 27, 2026, as investors shifted focus toward battery storage and power generation companies, while solar and biofuel stocks faced selling pressure. The broader Indian stock market remained largely flat during the session. The S&P BSE SENSEX closed slightly lower by 0.19 percent at 75,867.80, while the NIFTY 50 ended almost unchanged with a marginal decline of 0.03 percent at 23,907.15.

Among the top gainers, battery and energy storage companies attracted strong investor interest. Exide Industries emerged as the best-performing stock of the session, recording a sharp rise of more than 7.6 percent to close at Rs 394.15. Amara Raja Energy & Mobility also traded positively and gained 1.87 percent to settle at Rs 905.95. The strong movement in battery-related stocks highlighted growing market confidence in the energy storage segment.

Power generation companies also witnessed healthy buying activity during the day. JSW Energy registered a significant jump of 4.52 percent and ended at Rs 602.05. Adani Green Energy continued its positive momentum and rose 2.23 percent to close at Rs 1,489.90. Tata Power also remained in the green and gained 1.15 percent to finish at Rs 425.80. NTPC Green Energy Ltd., one of the recently listed renewable energy companies, moved higher by 1.25 percent and closed at Rs 104.33.

Engineering major L&T recorded a modest gain of 0.24 percent at Rs 4,047.50. Traditional energy companies expanding into clean energy businesses also traded positively. GAIL advanced around 0.8 percent, while Indian Oil Corporation gained nearly 1.1 percent during the session.

On the other hand, the solar and clean technology segments witnessed weakness. Insolation Energy was the biggest loser of the day, falling more than 9.3 percent to close at Rs 121.53. Praj Industries also declined by 2.55 percent to settle at Rs 383.80. Borosil Renewables, Inox Wind, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy, Olectra Greentech, and Websol Energy all registered minor losses. Indian Energy Exchange also slipped by 0.69 percent, while Reliance Industries declined 0.43 percent despite its large renewable energy expansion plans. Overall, the session reflected a clear shift of investor interest toward established power and battery storage companies.
