SWELECT Energy Commissions 4.40 MW Solar Power Plant In Tamil Nadu For C&I Open Access Supply

SWELECT Energy Systems Limited (SESL) has commissioned a new 4.40 MW solar power plant in Tamil Nadu, further strengthening its renewable energy portfolio. The project officially began operations on July 3, 2026, marking another milestone in the company’s efforts to expand clean energy generation in the state.

The solar power plant is located at V. Muthulingapuram Village in Virudhunagar Taluk and District. It has been connected to the grid through the 33/11 KV Naranapuram Substation at the 33 KV transmission level, enabling the generated electricity to be transmitted efficiently through the state’s power network.

The electricity produced by the project will be supplied to commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers under a third-party power sale arrangement. The project will operate through Tamil Nadu’s Intra-State Open Access mechanism, allowing SWELECT to deliver renewable electricity directly to eligible private consumers using the existing transmission infrastructure. This model supports businesses seeking reliable green power while contributing to the state’s renewable energy goals.

Unlike captive power projects, the electricity generated from this facility will not be used for the company’s own consumption or supplied directly to the government distribution network. Instead, it will cater exclusively to third-party buyers under long-term commercial arrangements.

The commissioning of the project was officially disclosed to the BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) on July 4, 2026. The regulatory filing was submitted by R. Chellappan, Whole-time Director and Vice Chairman of SWELECT Energy Systems, in line with the company’s disclosure and compliance requirements.

The SWELECT Energy Systems continues to expand its renewable energy footprint through solar power investments. The commissioning of this 4.40 MW project reflects the company’s continued focus on supporting clean energy adoption and supplying sustainable power solutions to India’s growing commercial and industrial sector.
