KP Group Appoints Prof. Sunil Kumar Maheshwari as Vice-Chairman to Strengthen Leadership

KP Group has appointed Prof. Sunil Kumar Maheshwari as its Vice-Chairman as the renewable energy company looks to strengthen its leadership team during its next phase of growth. He has also joined the boards of the group’s three listed companies—KPI Green Energy Limited, KP Energy Limited, and KP Green Engineering Limited.

Prof. Maheshwari brings nearly four decades of experience spanning academia, public sector leadership, corporate governance, and strategic advisory. His work has covered sectors including power, energy, infrastructure, banking, healthcare, logistics, and manufacturing, with expertise in organisational transformation, governance, leadership development, restructuring, and business turnaround.

An alumnus of IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad, Prof. Maheshwari has served on the boards of institutions such as UCO Bank, Andhra Bank, and NTPC School of Business. He previously served as Professor of Human Resource Management and Strategy at IIM Ahmedabad and held the additional role of Dean (Alumni and External Relations). He has also taught at IIM Lucknow and the National Academy of Indian Railways. Between 2009 and 2013, he served as Advisor to the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Faruk Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KP Group, said Prof. Maheshwari’s expertise in governance, strategy, and institution building would support the company’s long-term growth and strengthen its leadership capabilities as the organisation expands.

Founded in 1994, KP Group operates across renewable energy and infrastructure, with a portfolio spanning solar, wind, hybrid power, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and green hydrogen projects. The company said the appointment aligns with its strategy to enhance governance and leadership while supporting India’s clean energy transition.
