TotalEnergies ENEOS Commissions Vietnam’s Largest 28 MWp Rooftop Solar PPA At Samsung Electronics Facility

TotalEnergies ENEOS has commissioned a nearly 28 MWp rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system at the Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The project marks an important milestone for Vietnam’s renewable energy sector as it is the first and largest rooftop solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) project developed under the country’s Decree 57 Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) framework through a private-wire arrangement.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by representatives from local authorities and project partners, highlighting the growing importance of onsite renewable energy solutions in supporting industrial decarbonization and sustainable manufacturing in Vietnam.

Under a 20-year PPA, TotalEnergies ENEOS financed, designed, installed, and will continue to operate and maintain the rooftop solar system for Samsung Electronics’ second-largest manufacturing facility worldwide. The installation consists of nearly 45,000 solar PV modules and is expected to generate more than 40,000 MWh of clean electricity every year. This renewable energy production will meet around 26% of the facility’s annual electricity demand.

In addition to reducing dependence on conventional power sources, the project is expected to avoid more than 500,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions over the duration of the agreement. The rooftop solar installation also helps improve energy efficiency by reducing heat gain through the covered roof areas while enhancing the site’s energy independence.

Samsung Electronics said the project represents a significant step in its transition toward renewable energy and supports the company’s global RE100 commitment to sourcing electricity from renewable energy. The company described the initiative as an important example of collaboration for achieving long-term sustainability goals.

TotalEnergies ENEOS also emphasized that the project demonstrates how large-scale onsite solar systems can be successfully integrated into complex industrial facilities while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. The company thanked Samsung Electronics for its partnership and expressed confidence that similar renewable energy projects can play a key role in helping industries reduce emissions, improve energy resilience, and accelerate the transition toward cleaner manufacturing across the Asia-Pacific region.
