Industrial gas major Linde will invest $1bn in its existing industrial gas complex in Phoenix, Arizona, to supply ultra-high-purity gases to what it describes as one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers.

The investment, one of Linde’s largest for an electronics customer, will include two air separation units (ASUs) and associated infrastructure. The new plants will complement three ASUs already in operation at the site.
