Green Energy Stocks Deliver Mixed Performance Despite Positive Market Close (05 August 2026)

Indian equity benchmark indices ended slightly higher on August 5, 2026, reflecting a stable trading session despite mixed movements across sectors. The S&P BSE Sensex gained 0.19% to close at 78,581.00 points, while the Nifty 50 edged up 0.04% to settle at 24,624.65 points. Against this backdrop, green energy, electric mobility, and renewable energy stocks witnessed varied performances, with strong gains in a few mid-cap companies offset by declines in several power and solar-related stocks.

Kabra Extrusion emerged as the top performer in the green energy segment, attracting strong investor interest during the session. The stock climbed 9.78% on the BSE to close at ₹453.85 and advanced 10.78% on the NSE to ₹456.90. Commercial electric vehicle manufacturer Olectra Greentech also recorded a solid performance, rising 4.20% on the BSE to ₹1,405.00 and 4.16% on the NSE to ₹1,403.90.

Battery and energy storage companies remained among the key gainers. Exide Industries rose 1.65% on the BSE to ₹466.00 and gained 2.00% on the NSE to ₹467.50. Amara Raja Energy & Mobility also posted healthy gains, increasing 1.69% on the BSE to ₹937.10 and 1.97% on the NSE to ₹939.15. Engineering major Larsen & Toubro added more than 1.6% on the NSE to end at ₹4,057.00, while Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy gained up to 1.83%, closing at ₹209.88.

On the losing side, Insolation Energy registered the steepest decline among renewable energy stocks. The company’s shares fell 2.81% on the BSE to ₹112.45 and 2.95% on the NSE to ₹112.50. Power generation companies also came under mild selling pressure. JSW Energy slipped 1.23% on the BSE to ₹560.00, while Reliance Industries declined nearly 0.9% on both exchanges to trade around ₹1,280.00. Wind turbine manufacturer Inox Wind dropped 0.93% on the BSE to ₹78.55, and Websol Energy lost 1.02% on the NSE to ₹95.34. Adani Green Energy and Praj Industries also ended the day with marginal losses of less than 0.6%.

Some stocks showed mixed trends across exchanges. Tata Power fell 0.26% on the BSE to ₹380.00 but gained 0.79% on the NSE to ₹383.00. State-owned GAIL also witnessed divergent trading, slipping slightly on the BSE while rising 1.12% on the NSE to ₹176.96. Meanwhile, NTPC Green Energy remained largely unchanged, closing near ₹90.70, indicating a relatively steady performance during the session.
