Green Energy Stocks See Mixed Trading as Sensex, Nifty Decline on August 12

Indian stock benchmarks ended lower on August 12, 2026, as weakness across the broader market weighed on investor sentiment. The S&P BSE Sensex declined 0.24% to close at 77,966.35, while the Nifty 50 slipped 0.45% to settle at 24,361.70. Against this backdrop, green energy and clean technology stocks delivered a mixed performance, with selective gains in solar manufacturing and energy storage companies offset by profit-booking in renewable power and equipment stocks.

Insolation Energy emerged among the leading gainers, rising 2.49% on the BSE to ₹106.90 and 1.88% on the NSE to ₹106.00. Borosil Renewables also advanced, gaining 2.44% on the BSE to ₹576.30 and 1.67% on the NSE to ₹571.90. Energy storage company Exide Industries climbed 1.53% on the BSE to ₹490.50 and 1.67% on the NSE to ₹491.40.

Among major companies, Reliance Industries edged up 0.45% on the BSE to ₹1,327.10, while Indian Oil Corporation gained 0.25% to ₹140.70. Indian Energy Exchange increased 0.68% on the BSE to ₹126.40.

However, several clean energy and infrastructure stocks faced selling pressure. Websol Energy was the biggest decliner, falling 5.00% on the BSE to ₹85.15 and 4.99% on the NSE to ₹85.29. Kabra Extrusion dropped 3.08% on the BSE to ₹492.00 and 2.69% on the NSE to ₹495.00.

Renewable power developers also remained under pressure. Adani Green Energy declined 1.90% on the BSE to ₹1,334.00 and 2.42% on the NSE to ₹1,333.00. JSW Energy fell 1.93% on the BSE to ₹555.85, while Praj Industries declined 1.65% to ₹324.00. Larsen & Toubro slipped 1.19% to ₹3,992.00.

Other sector stocks recorded modest losses. Tata Power fell 0.53% to ₹378.00, while NTPC Green Energy declined 0.74% to ₹92.28. Olectra Greentech slipped 0.54% to ₹1,384.15, and Inox Wind edged down 0.13% to ₹74.00. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy was nearly unchanged, declining 0.15% to ₹202.60.

Overall, trading remained stock-specific, with investors showing selective interest in solar manufacturing and energy storage companies while booking profits in several renewable power and equipment stocks.
