India Daily: SECI Seeks Inputs for RE PMU, UPERC Rejects UPRVUNL Solar Petition, Adani Acquires Vizag Transmission SPV, KERC Drafts 2026 Supply Rules, Telangana Eyes 2,545 MW Solar and More…

Solar Energy Corporation of India has invited stakeholder inputs for establishing a Project Management Unit linked to a renewable energy scheme. The consultation is intended to gather industry feedback and strengthen the proposed framework before implementation. A dedicated PMU can support programme management, coordination, monitoring and execution as India scales up renewable energy initiatives across different technologies and regions. By involving stakeholders at the planning stage, SECI is seeking practical inputs from the sector that could improve implementation efficiency and address operational considerations. The initiative reflects the increasing emphasis on structured programme management for India’s expanding clean energy ecosystem.

The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has dismissed a petition filed by Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited concerning solar power plants proposed at existing power station premises. The regulatory decision addresses UPRVUNL’s request relating to the development and treatment of these solar installations within Uttar Pradesh’s electricity framework. The order highlights the importance of following applicable regulatory provisions when conventional power generators seek to utilise available land or infrastructure for renewable energy development. The case also reflects the growing interest among state-owned power generators in diversifying existing generation sites through solar projects as India’s electricity mix becomes increasingly renewable-focused.

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited has completed the transfer of Vizag Power Transmission Limited to Adani Energy Solutions Limited. The special purpose vehicle was established for development of an interstate transmission project and was awarded through the tariff-based competitive bidding route. The transaction enables Adani Energy Solutions to take forward the transmission infrastructure under the project framework. Expanding transmission capacity remains critical as India integrates larger volumes of renewable electricity and strengthens power transfer between generation centres and demand regions. The acquisition further expands Adani Energy Solutions’ presence in India’s growing transmission infrastructure market.

The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission has issued draft Electricity Supply Regulations, 2026, aimed at streamlining electricity connections and related consumer services across Karnataka. The proposed framework seeks to establish clearer procedures for new connections and improve consistency in how electricity supply requests are processed by distribution licensees. Modernising supply regulations is increasingly important as electricity demand expands across residential, commercial and industrial segments and new technologies reshape consumer requirements. The draft also represents a broader push toward more transparent and efficient electricity distribution services. Stakeholder feedback will help KERC refine the framework before the regulations are finalised and implemented.

The Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission has invited public comments on a proposal involving the procurement of 2,545 MW of solar power in the state. The proceeding represents a significant potential addition to Telangana’s renewable electricity portfolio and could support the state’s future power requirements while increasing the contribution of solar generation. Public consultation provides consumers, developers and other stakeholders an opportunity to submit observations before the Commission takes a final regulatory view. If approved and implemented, procurement at this scale could strengthen Telangana’s solar market while supporting broader renewable purchase and energy-transition objectives within the state’s electricity sector.

FCI Aravali Gypsum and Minerals India Limited has invited bids to develop a 2.52 MW AC solar plant at Bhawad in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, under a 25-year Build-Own-Operate model. The project requires at least 3,024 kWp DC capacity, minimum annual generation of 41.94 lakh units and 95% plant availability. The benchmark PPA tariff is ₹3.323/kWh, while bidders must provide an EMD of ₹10 lakh. Online bid submission closes on August 28, 2026, and the selected developer must commission the plant within four months of the work order or agreement.

The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission has directed Power Grid Corporation of India Limited to approach the appropriate Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum in connection with its billing dispute involving Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited. The direction clarifies the appropriate grievance-resolution mechanism available for addressing the matter rather than pursuing it directly before the Commission. The case underscores the importance of established regulatory procedures and institutional forums in resolving electricity billing disputes. Such decisions help define jurisdictional boundaries within the power sector while ensuring that disputes involving utilities and electricity consumers move through the prescribed grievance-redressal process before further regulatory remedies are considered.
