AUSI Signs 20-Year PPA For 1.59 MW Ground-Mounted Solar Project In Batangas

Advent Upgrade Solar Inc. (AUSI) has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Proterial Philippines Inc. to develop a 1,587.20-kilowatt-peak (kWp) ground-mounted solar photovoltaic project at Proterial’s manufacturing facility in LIMA Estate, Batangas.

The project is expected to begin commercial operations in the first quarter of 2027 and will become the first ground-mounted solar installation inside LIMA Estate. The 1,100-hectare industrial estate, operated by Aboitiz Economic Estates, is home to more than 200 companies and manufacturing facilities.

Proterial Philippines has been an anchor locator at LIMA Estate since 1997. The company was previously known as Hitachi Cable Philippines Inc. before adopting its current name in 2023.

Under the long-term PPA, Proterial will receive renewable electricity for its operations without having to finance, build, or own the solar generation facility. The arrangement is expected to help the manufacturer reduce its dependence on conventional power sources while supporting its environmental goals.

Once operational, the solar project is expected to avoid more than 1,400 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions each year. Over the 20-year agreement, the project could help prevent approximately 28,000 tons of carbon emissions.

Proterial Philippines President Yoshiaki Yamashita said the project supports the company’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, improve energy efficiency, and contribute to the Philippines’ transition toward a more sustainable energy system.

AUSI Chairperson and Upgrade Energy Philippines President and CEO Ruth Yu-Owen welcomed Proterial’s commitment, describing the project as an important example of how industrial facilities can adopt renewable energy and strengthen sustainability efforts.

AUSI is a joint venture between AboitizPower Distributed Renewables Inc. and Upgrade Energy Philippines Inc. The company focuses on distributed solar solutions for commercial and industrial customers.

The Proterial project further expands AUSI’s portfolio of long-term renewable energy agreements. The company has also secured a 20-year solar supply agreement for a 1,587.20-kWp project serving GH Mall in San Juan under a deal with Ortigas Land.

The development reflects the growing adoption of dedicated solar power solutions by Philippine industrial and commercial businesses seeking cleaner, more reliable, and sustainable energy supplies.
