The Nordex Group has received a 34 MW order from EEF Erneuerbare Energien Fabrik GmbH for the Rauschenberg wind farm in Hesse, Germany.
Under the order, Nordex will supply and install five N175/6.X wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.8 MW. The turbines will be installed on towers with a hub height of 199 metres. The contract also includes a 20-year Premium Service agreement.
The project is being developed as a repowering initiative, with the new turbines replacing five existing wind turbines that have a combined installed capacity of 3 MW. Delivery and installation of the new turbines are scheduled to begin at the end of 2027, with electricity generation from the upgraded wind farm expected to increase from summer 2028.
The number of turbines at the site will remain unchanged, while the higher-capacity N175/6.X turbines are expected to significantly increase electricity production. Their large rotor and 199-metre hub height will allow the turbines to access stronger and more consistent wind resources at higher altitudes, improving energy yields and site utilisation.
EEF Project Manager Lukas Jörgens said the Rauschenberg project demonstrates how repowering can increase renewable electricity generation at established wind energy sites while supporting regional power supply.
Nordex Vice President Region Europe Karsten Brüggemann said the order highlights the potential of modern repowering projects to accelerate the energy transition and improve the economic performance of existing wind sites.
The Rauschenberg order follows a March 2026 order for three N175/6.X turbines, also featuring a 199-metre hub height, for a wind project in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The latest order further reflects demand for high-capacity wind turbines in Germany as developers increasingly turn to repowering to increase renewable generation without expanding the number of turbines at existing sites.
