Waaree Clean Energy Solutions (WCES), a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies Limited, has announced its entry into India’s specialty gases business, targeting semiconductor and solar cell manufacturers across the country.
The company plans to establish a specialty gases manufacturing facility at GIDC Saykha, Dahej, Gujarat, as part of its strategy to develop a domestic supply chain for high-purity process gases and chemicals used in semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing.
WCES said India’s expansion of semiconductor and electronics manufacturing under the Semicon India 2.0 programme is driving demand for high-purity gases and chemicals, which are currently sourced substantially through imports.
Anuj Sharma, CEO, WCES, said a reliable supply chain for high-purity gases and chemicals is essential for scaling semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing in India. He added that the company intends to serve fabs, OSAT and ATMP facilities, advanced electronics manufacturers and solar cell production lines.
Specialty Gases Manufacturing Plans
WCES plans to develop the business in phases, with the initial infrastructure including:
-Specialty gases warehousing with storage and handling facilities designed for semiconductor-grade safety and purity standards.
-Ultra-high-purity (UHP) ammonia purification for semiconductor applications.
-Phosphine/Hydrogen (PH₃/H₂) mixing facilities for doping and deposition processes.
-UHP oxygen production.
-UHP hydrogen, which the company said is already commercially available.
The company also plans to develop custom gas and chemical supply systems and nitrogen plants for customers.
Pan-India Gas And Chemical Supply
WCES said its Total Gas & Chemical Management System will cover storage, delivery, safety monitoring and inventory management, allowing manufacturers to outsource their gas and chemical supply requirements.
Its planned UHP portfolio includes silane, ammonia, nitrous oxide, phosphine mixtures, boron trichloride (BCl₃), trimethyl aluminium, diborane, germane/hydrogen mixes, HBr, SF₆, nitric oxide, fluorinated gases and calibration gases.
The company plans to support customers through a pan-India supply network.
WCES said the new business builds on its existing clean energy manufacturing capabilities, including its electrolyser stack facility. The company expects its specialty gases business to expand alongside India’s growing semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing capacity and contribute to greater domestic availability of critical manufacturing inputs.
