The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced plans to select a project developer for a pilot solar photovoltaic power project along an elevated section of the Delhi-Dehradun Highway. Issued on October 9, 2026, the notice outlines the development of the project under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) mode as part of Phase-I. The initiative is being undertaken on behalf of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The proposed project will have a minimum installed capacity of 4 megawatts (MW). SECI will select the project developer through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, aiming to ensure transparency and fair competition among interested participants. The project is intended to explore the integration of solar power generation infrastructure with highway development.
The initiative reflects efforts to expand renewable energy deployment by utilising infrastructure associated with national highways. Installing solar photovoltaic systems along elevated highway sections could support the use of available infrastructure for clean electricity generation while contributing to India’s broader renewable energy development objectives.
SECI has stated that the bidding documents will be made available shortly through its official website, the Central Public Procurement (CPP) Portal and the ISN-ETS portal. Prospective bidders interested in participating in the selection process are advised to monitor these platforms regularly for the release of the Request for Selection (RfS) documents.
The corporation has also clarified that separate notifications will not be issued regarding updates to the bidding documents. Accordingly, bidders should check the designated portals for amendments, clarifications and other relevant announcements.
Through this pilot project, SECI and NHAI are seeking to advance the integration of renewable energy infrastructure with highway development. Further details about project implementation and bidding requirements are expected to become available once the official documents are published.
