
Biofuels producer POET will connect its Fairmont, Nebraska, bioprocessing facility to the Tallgrass Trailblazer carbon dioxide (CO2) pipeline, which will span around 400 miles through Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
Under terms of signed definite agreements, the POET will capture biogenic CO2 (bioCO2) for transportation and permanent underground sequestration in Wyoming.
By capturing and sequestering bioCO2 from its bioethanol production process, POET will lower the carbon intensity of its final product. It says this will open new market opportunities that creatures value for corn growers and bioethanol producers.
Jeff Broin, founder and CEO of POET, described carbon capture as an opportunity for farmers and bioethanol producers while strengthening rural communities.
