Basis Climate, a leading facilitator of clean energy tax credit transfers, has successfully completed the transfer of Production Tax Credits (PTCs) across three transactions on behalf of ACCIONA Energía, a subsidiary of ACCIONA — a global leader in infrastructure, water, services, and renewable energy. These credits were generated by four of ACCIONA Energía’s renewable energy facilities located in Texas: Fort Bend, Red-Tailed Hawk, Green Pastures I, and Green Pastures II.

The Fort Bend project is a 240 MWac solar farm, while Red-Tailed Hawk is a larger 350 MWac solar facility. Green Pastures I and Green Pastures II are two wind farms with a combined capacity of 300 MWac, acquired by ACCIONA in November 2024. These four projects represent ACCIONA Energía’s ongoing commitment to renewable energy expansion in Texas, adding to its growing portfolio, which also includes three wind farms in Cameron County and the Cunningham Battery Storage System in Hunt County.

Basis Climate’s CEO Erik Underwood, said in a statement, “the era of tax credit transferability means many new forms of selling credits are now possible. We look forward to supporting more developers as they evaluate this type of tax credit sale in the future.”

For the Fort Bend and Red-Tailed Hawk projects, ACCIONA Energía partnered with Basis Climate to identify buyers for the PTCs linked to its Class B interest in each project, operating outside of an existing tax equity partnership. Additionally, Basis Climate enabled ACCIONA Energía to efficiently monetize the tax credits from the Green Pastures I and II wind projects following their acquisition, providing financial flexibility and accelerating the return on investment.

This successful collaboration underscores Basis Climate’s ability to streamline the transfer of clean energy tax credits, helping renewable energy developers access new funding opportunities. It also highlights ACCIONA Energía’s continued focus on advancing sustainable energy projects in the U.S., strengthening its position as a key player in the transition to clean energy.
