Air Liquide sees ‘renewed interest’ in hydrogen as energy fears rise

Air Liquide is seeing “renewed interest” across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia in hydrogen as a pillar of energy independence strategies following energy supply shocks due to the Iran conflict.

That was the message from CEO François Jackow during the French industrial gas major’s Q1 results, where it reported revenues of €6.78bn ($7.93bn).

He told investors that the Iran conflict, which has seen the key oil and gas shipping corridor closed, was reinforcing hydrogen’s role in “energy sovereignty and resilience” over the medium term in Europe.

Europe has been among the hardest-hit regions due to its reliance on oil and gas imports, with fuel prices rapidly increasing and growing fears about winter fuel supplies.
