Airgain, Inc. has introduced a groundbreaking solution for 5G expansion with the launch of Lighthouse Solar™, a fully self-sustaining, solar-powered Smart Network-Controlled Repeater (NCR). Unlike traditional systems that rely on fiber and power grids, this innovative technology operates independently, making it an ideal choice for expanding 5G coverage in remote areas. By overcoming infrastructure challenges and reducing deployment costs, Lighthouse Solar™ enables telecom operators to grow their networks more efficiently while reinforcing Airgain’s leadership in next-generation wireless solutions.

Recent field trials have demonstrated its strong market potential, showing a 20% increase in 5G coverage, significantly expanding network reach in both urban and rural regions. Speed tests revealed a dramatic transformation, with connections jumping from just 1 Mbps on existing 4G networks to an average of over 250 Mbps, reaching peak speeds of 425 Mbps even in underserved locations.

Dr. Ali Sadri, Chief Technology Officer at Airgain, said “This breakthrough positions Airgain at the forefront of the 5G infrastructure revolution. By offering a sustainable, grid-independent, and rapidly deployable solution, we are enabling telecom operators to expand their networks at lower costs, increase service reliability, and drive greater monetization opportunities—all while advancing global connectivity.”

The system also delivers more than a 50% improvement in spectrum efficiency, maximizing network utilization and profitability for telecom providers. Additionally, it enhances data throughput in challenging environments and can be deployed in less than a day, cutting both Capital Expenditures (CapEx) and Operating Expenditures (OpEx) by eliminating the need for fiber or power grid connections.

As the telecom industry pushes for more sustainable and scalable solutions, Airgain’s Lighthouse Solar™ presents a compelling investment opportunity. By removing traditional deployment barriers, it accelerates 5G rollouts, improves customer experiences, and ensures long-term cost savings for service providers. Airgain will showcase Lighthouse Solar™ at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona from March 3 to 6, where it will partner with Omantel to discuss the future of smart and sustainable 5G wireless networks.
