Airgas provides high-pressure nitrogen for Artemis II

The Artemis II crew is now heading back to Earth after travelling further into space than anyone before, powered by vital industrial gases.

At liftoff, NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket was loaded with more than 700,000 gallons of cryogenic propellant, primarily liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen, stored at temperatures as low as -253°C.

Nitrogen plays a crucial support role in these operations.

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, won the contract to supply mission-critical high-pressure nitrogen for launch operations at the Kennedy Space Center.
