Ameren Missouri has filed a new energy plan with the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) to support the rising power demands of large-scale businesses, including data centers and advanced manufacturers.

The proposed Powering Missouri Growth Plan is designed to ensure reliable energy for high-demand customers while keeping rates fair for existing customers.

Key goals of the plan include:

  • Job Creation: By attracting and supporting energy-intensive businesses, the plan aims to drive economic development and employment growth.
  • Community Benefits: New businesses would bring increased revenue to support local services like schools and fire departments.
  • Customer Protections: The plan includes provisions to ensure that expanding companies cover the costs of the electricity they use, without shifting that burden to other customers.

The proposal aligns with Missouri Senate Bill 4, a bipartisan energy law set to take effect August 28. It includes consumer protection measures to safeguard stakeholders and ensure transparency in cost-sharing.

Companies who use a lot of energy evaluate many factors when they are looking to locate their business in a community,” said Rob Dixon, senior director of economic and community development for Ameren Missouri. “At Ameren Missouri, we offer a balanced energy mix, a reliable energy delivery system, and some of the lowest electric rates in the country. We want those companies to know Missouri is open for business, and we are ready to serve them. When businesses grow here, they create jobs and spur millions of dollars in investment in our local communities.”

If approved, the plan would offer large customers access to competitive energy options—along with pathways to meet clean energy goals—without compromising the affordability or reliability of service for other users.
