Aramco Looks to Strengthen Supply Network, CEO Reveals

Aramco’s President and CEO, Amin H. Nasser, announced in the company’s latest results statement that the business is continuing to “explore additional overseas storage capacity”, as well as “alternative export routes”, in order to “further strengthen” Aramco’s global supply network.

“Geopolitical uncertainty and attacks on key energy facilities continued to amplify the global energy supply crisis in the third quarter of 2026, with serious implications for global energy security,” Nasser stated in Aramco’s results.

“Despite challenges, the unwavering dedication of our workforce, our operational excellence, the flexibility of our system, and the strength of a supply network built over decades enabled us to continue delivering reliably to our customers through this extraordinary period,” he added.

In the results statement, Nasser noted that Aramco’s “robust operational and financial performance during this volatile period demonstrates the value of … [Aramco’s] resilience”.

“Backed by our strong balance sheet, we remain focused on the disciplined execution of priority projects, and on leveraging advanced technologies to enhance performance and unlock new opportunities,” he noted.

“This is how we will continue to meet the world’s evolving energy needs and deliver value for our shareholders and customers,” he continued.

Aramco’s latest results statement revealed that, in the third quarter, the company saw “supply reliability” of 97.8 percent. This was achieved by leveraging Aramco’s integrated global network, flexible logistics capabilities, and strategic storage infrastructure, “underpinned by optimized utilization of the East-West Pipeline, which continued to provide export flexibility”, and Aramco’s west coast export infrastructure, the company outlined in the statement.

“Amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, Aramco’s downstream operations demonstrated robust resilience, helping to ensure reliable delivery of its products to both domestic and international customers,” Aramco noted in its results.

“This strong supply reliability was achieved despite some disruptions to the East-West Pipeline during the quarter as Aramco was able to quickly restore loadings in the western region using the pipeline’s multiline configuration,” it added.

“At the same time, Aramco progressed its major downstream projects and strengthened its readiness to capitalize on future growth opportunities, while exploring additional overseas storage and new export routes,” it continued.

Production, Financials

Aramco highlighted in its results that the company achieved total hydrocarbon production of 11 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in the third quarter, “despite supply constraints impacting energy markets”.

Total hydrocarbon production for Aramco came in at 9.4 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in the second quarter and 13.2 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in the third quarter of last year, the statement showed.

“Aramco continued to demonstrate its hallmark operational resilience and flexibility throughout the third quarter of 2026 while navigating ongoing regional uncertainty,” the company noted in its statement.

“This performance underscores the company’s unique ability to adapt to changing market conditions, while showcasing the scale and flexibility of its assets, underpinned by robust operational and technical capabilities and comprehensive contingency planning,” it added.

Aramco also highlighted in its results that the company continued to advance several increment projects during the third quarter to maintain its maximum sustained capacity at 12.0 million barrels per day, “further supporting the company’s continued operational flexibility and market responsiveness”.

Aramco reported adjusted net income  of $31.2 billion in the third quarter, compared to $33.4 billion in the second quarter of this year and $28.6 billion in the third quarter of 2025. In the nine month period of 2026, Aramco’s adjusted net income was $98.4 billion, according to the results statement, which showed that the company’s adjusted net income for the corresponding period in 2025 was $80.6 billion.

Aramco’s cash flow from operating activities was $38.7 billion in the third quarter, compared to $36.1 billion in the third quarter of last year, and the company’s free cash flow was $28.2 billion in the third quarter, compared to $23.6 billion in the third quarter of last year, the statement revealed.

The company’s latest results statement also highlighted that Aramco’s board had declared a third quarter 2026 base dividend of $21.9 billion to be paid in the fourth quarter, which it pointed out was up 3.5 percent year on year.

“Aramco’s financial resilience and operational excellence were once again on display in the third quarter, with adjusted net income up nine percent and free cash flow up 20 percent compared to the same period last year, despite unprecedented market disruption,” Ziad T. Al-Murshed, Executive Vice President and CFO of Aramco, said in the statement.

“The strength of our balance sheet, our prudent financial management, and our strong cash generation continue to provide flexibility to navigate changing conditions, underpinning our ability to deliver value to shareholders and invest in long-term growth,” he added.

Analyst View

In a research report sent to Rigzone by the HSBC team on Wednesday, analysts at the company, including HSBC Senior Global Oil and Gas Analyst Kim Fustier, said the third quarter “showed Aramco’s ability to capture the strong environment and maintain operations despite continued regional disruption”.

The HSBC analysts highlighted in the report that Aramco’s third quarter adjusted net income was 1.8 percent above consensus, “while liquids production rose 1.1 million barrels per day (15 percent) and Downstream EBIT surged on strong refining margins”.

“Net debt fell, pushing gearing down to 5.5 percent (from 6.2 percent),” the analysts pointed out.

The analysts noted in the report that Saudi crude exports recovered faster than they expected, adding that, “following the September attack on the East-West pipeline, Aramco rapidly increased exports from the Gulf via the Strait of Hormuz while restoring westbound capacity”.

“October crude exports of circa seven million barrels per day were back around pre-conflict levels, although we would not equate exports with production given Saudi Arabia has also drawn inventories to maintain customer deliveries,” they said.

The HSBC analysts went on to note in the report that “preliminary engineering is now underway to expand East-West from seven million barrels per day to 10 million barrels per day”, adding that “the temporary conversion of a gas pipeline could add 1.2 million barrels per day within months”, which they said was faster than their previous assumption of mid-2027.

“With Aramco now using all routes and progressing on expanding export capacity, we think this supports a faster production recovery even if Hormuz constraints persist,” the HSBC analysts said.

“We now forecast Aramco crude production at 8.3 million barrels per day in 4Q26 (from 6.3 million barrels per day previously), rising to 9.8 million barrels per day in 2027 (vs 8.8 million barrels per day),” they added.

“We assume crude output reaches circa nine million barrels per day by end-2026 and returns to the pre-conflict 10 million barrels per day level by mid-2027,” they continued.

The HSBC analysts outlined in the report that project execution had “held up well despite eight months of disruption”.

“Zuluf started in 3Q and is ramping towards 600,000 barrels per day by end-2026, while Dammam Ph.2, Jafurah Ph.2 and Fadhili remain on track for 2027 milestones,” the analysts noted.

“Supply reliability is running at 97-98 percent, only slightly lower vs >99 percent normally,” they added.

“Aramco’s restoration capabilities, with emergency repairs circa six times faster than industry in pre-conflict benchmarking, were evident in the rapid restart of East-West and other assets,” they continued.

“Restoration costs and the acquisition of a $2.6 billion HUMAIN AI stake are absorbed within unchanged 2026 capex guidance of $50-55 billion,” they went on to state.
