Avangrid Foundation Celebrates Major Milestone As Employees Deliver 42,000 Volunteer Hours In 2025

The Avangrid Foundation, the charitable arm of Avangrid Inc. and part of the Iberdrola Group, announced a major milestone in employee community service: staff volunteered more than 42,000 hours in 2025, far surpassing the original goal of 35,000 hours. This achievement reflects a remarkable tenfold increase in volunteer engagement since the company began formally tracking participation in 2021.

According to Jose Antonio Miranda, these efforts show how deeply community service is embedded in the company’s culture. He emphasized that the dedication of employees has a tangible impact on the communities they support and serves as a strong reminder of the values guiding the company’s mission. Pablo Colón added that employees continue to demonstrate what it means to lead with purpose, and programs like Energized for Good help amplify each hour volunteered by directing additional support to hundreds of partner organizations.

Throughout 2025, Avangrid employees volunteered across 26 states, assisting 431 different organizations. Their efforts supported a wide range of community needs, from environmental projects to food security and youth support. Some of the year’s highlights included the donation of 317 pints of blood, which contributed to lifesaving treatments; funding the planting of 73,185 trees to strengthen ecosystems; and collecting 10,005 food items for local pantries. Employees also assembled and donated 1,320 fully stocked school backpacks, gathered 1,507 toys for children and families in need during the holidays, and contributed to 11 Habitat for Humanity home builds to support affordable housing. Additionally, they prepared 300 Easter baskets for hospitalized children, providing moments of comfort and encouragement during medical care.

Community partners shared their appreciation for these efforts. Lorraine Gibbons, Executive Director of the Cardinal Shehan Center, noted that Avangrid employees made an enormous positive impact through beautification projects, maintenance work, and direct engagement with youth in after-school programs. She stressed that investing time in young people strengthens the future of the community itself. Richard Branigan from the American Red Cross of Connecticut highlighted the importance of ongoing collaboration, especially in lifesaving initiatives such as blood donation, explaining that collective service efforts achieve far more than any single organization could accomplish alone.

Beyond volunteer hours, the Avangrid Foundation enhances employee contributions through its Energized for Good program. The initiative provides donations to qualifying organizations based on the amount of volunteer time contributed—up to 100 hours per employee. It also offers matching funds at a rate of 50 cents for every dollar donated by an employee, up to $1,500 annually for eligible organizations. In 2025, the 42,000 volunteer hours generated more than $410,000 in rewards donations through the program.

Employee donations combined with the Foundation’s matching contributions generated an additional amount exceeding $420,000. Altogether, the direct involvement and generosity of Avangrid employees resulted in more than $830,000 being directed to local community organizations in 2025, further strengthening support networks and expanding the impact of their volunteer work across the country.
