Resonia Ltd. has secured a major interstate transmission system (ISTS) project in the Karnataka from the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC), strengthening its position as a key player in India’s power transmission sector. The project will be executed through the special purpose vehicle Hampapura Power Transmission Limited and is expected to significantly bolster the Southern Grid by improving operational flexibility and supporting Karnataka’s rapidly increasing electricity demand, which is being driven by the accelerated development of renewable energy capacity across the state.

The initiative aligns with India’s national objective of installing 500 GW of non-fossil-fuel power capacity by 2030. As Karnataka continues to grow as a major renewable energy hub—led by large-scale solar and wind installations—the project underscores the critical role of advanced transmission infrastructure in ensuring efficient power evacuation, grid stability and reliable electricity flow. Strengthening high-capacity networks has become essential as the state’s energy landscape shifts toward clean generation sources.

Speaking on the development, Prashant Sinha said the project represents a significant milestone for Resonia and an important reinforcement of Karnataka’s transmission backbone. He noted that with renewable power expanding at an unprecedented pace, robust transmission corridors are crucial for maintaining grid reliability and supporting long-term energy security. Sinha added that the Hampapura project will facilitate smooth evacuation of clean energy while advancing Karnataka’s broader sustainability and power sector goals, reflecting the company’s strong capabilities and its commitment to building infrastructure that supports India’s energy transition.

The transmission route spans varied and sensitive terrains, requiring extensive planning, coordination with local stakeholders and environmentally responsible execution. Resonia intends to apply advanced engineering methods, modern construction practices and rigorous environmental safeguards to ensure that the project is delivered efficiently while minimising ecological and social impact.

With this development, Resonia further strengthens its role as an important enabler of India’s clean energy future. The project will contribute to enhancing grid resilience, managing future load growth and ensuring reliable electricity delivery across the Southern Grid as the region continues integrating large volumes of renewable energy.
