B.C. Jindal Group Secures 150 MW Round-the-Clock Renewable Energy PPA with SECI

B.C. Jindal Group, a leading Indian conglomerate with a turnover exceeding Rs. 18,000 crore, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 150 MW round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy project. The project is part of SECI’s larger 1,200 MW RTC renewable energy initiative, tendered in November last year.

Under the agreement, B.C. Jindal Group will develop an ISTS-connected renewable energy project, incorporating solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The company will be responsible for land acquisition, project installation, and interconnection with the ISTS network, ensuring power supply to DISCOMs tied to the PPA. The project is slated for commissioning within 24 months, subject to substation availability.

The 150 MW capacity was secured at a tariff of Rs 5.07/kWh through competitive bidding during a reverse auction.

CEO, Jindal India Renewable Energy, stated:
“Since entering the sector in FY25, we have secured 750 MW of renewable projects, representing an investment of over Rs 8,000 crore. This project highlights our expertise in executing complex RTC initiatives and reinforces our commitment to India’s renewable energy goals, including the government’s target of 500 GW by 2030.”

In FY26, B.C. Jindal Group has already secured 450 MW of renewable projects from state-owned entities, including a 300 MW solar-plus-storage project from SJVN and another 300 MW solar-plus-storage LoA from NHPC, which forms part of NHPC’s 1,200 MW ISTS-connected solar initiative with energy storage integration.

The Group’s renewable energy arm, Jindal India Renewable Energy, plans to implement a diverse mix of solar, wind, hybrid, and Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects to strengthen its position in India’s rapidly evolving power sector.

Founded in 1952, B.C. Jindal Group has diversified from steel pipe manufacturing into thermal and renewable energy, as well as packaging films, currently operating a 1,200 MW thermal power plant in Angul, Odisha, while accelerating its renewable energy portfolio.
