Germany’s new transport sector green hydrogen mandates could create demand for around 600,000 tonnes of green hydrogen from refineries by 2032, according to Luc Graré, Chief Strategy Officer of French producer Lhyfe.
Despite the policy signal, producers still face major obstacles to investing in long-term supply assets, with refineries hesitant to sign multi-year contracts while hydrogen delivery infrastructure remains underdeveloped.
Speaking to H2 View, Graré said Germany’s recently passed could create significant demand, but only if infrastructure and financing barriers are overcome.
