Canadian Solar Inc. announced that it has been recognized as both a Tier 1 PV module supplier and a Tier 1 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) supplier on the first-ever 2025 Tier 1 Cleantech Companies list released by S&P Global Commodity Insights. This achievement places Canadian Solar among the world’s top providers excelling in solar panels and energy storage solutions. The Tier 1 Cleantech Companies list is based on S&P Global Commodity Insights’ in-depth evaluation using multiple criteria.

Edurne Zoco, Ph.D., Executive Director of Research and Analysis, Clean Energy Technology, S&P Global Commodity Insights, stated, “We believe our new Tier 1 classification list is unique in its transparency. Our Tier 1 list is designed to help cleantech suppliers stand out in a crowded field and aid developers, offtakers and those procuring or financing cleantech equipment and renewable project development in identifying reliable and resilient partners.”

Dr. Shawn Qu, Chairman and CEO, Canadian Solar Inc, mentioned, “Canadian Solar is proud to be recognized by S&P Global Commodity Insights as a Tier 1 supplier in both modules and energy storage. This recognition highlights our financial and operational strength, our leadership in sustainable innovation, and our commitment to supporting customers worldwide with reliable, high-quality clean energy solutions.”

These include market presence, cumulative equipment shipments, annual market share, production scale, global manufacturing diversity, financial performance, and sustainability efforts. Canadian Solar earned this dual Tier 1 status thanks to its large-scale shipments of gigawatt-level solar modules and storage systems, its strong financial results, and its dedication to sustainability. The company’s ongoing carbon reduction efforts and circular economy initiatives further demonstrate its commitment to delivering reliable and environmentally responsible clean energy solutions at scale.
