With its vast lands and abundant feedstocks, India’s bioenergy sector is among the most promising across its energy industry.

There are no shortage of stats surrounding this area, and perhaps the one that leaps out most is India has nearly , presenting considerable opportunity to expanding and diversifying affordable energy supplies. Bioenergy today accounts for 13% of India’s total final energy consumption but it is expected to grow by up to 45% through to 2030; that would make it the fastest growing bioenergy market globally, accounting for more than a third of global growth.

Excluding traditional uses for fuel wood, it consumes 180 million tonnes per year of feedstocks including sugarcane, corn, agricultural residues and municipal solid and liquid wastes.
