Convergent Energy and Power, a leading provider of energy storage solutions in North America, has announced that it has been named Energy Storage Company of the Year at the 2025 CleanTech Breakthrough Awards. The CleanTech Breakthrough Awards is an annual program that recognizes the most innovative products, companies, and individuals working in the energy, climate, and clean technology industries.

The 2025 edition of the awards attracted thousands of nominations across more than 100 categories. The program is part of Tech Breakthrough, a global market intelligence organization known for its extensive experience in technology research and award programs. With more than a decade of expertise in evaluating innovation, Tech Breakthrough’s award programs are considered among the most respected in the technology and energy sectors.

Convergent Energy and Power specializes in energy storage and solar-plus-storage systems. These systems are designed to store electricity when there is an excess supply and dispatch it back to the grid when it is needed most. This process helps create a more cost-effective, resilient, and renewable-powered electricity grid.

Johannes Rittershausen, Convergent’s Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement, “Convergent is honored to be named Energy Storage Company of the Year by the CleanTech Breakthrough Awards, which demonstrates our company’s commitment to a cleaner, more reliable grid. The future of energy depends on our ability to store it, and we are proud to be recognized for our work to accelerate the clean energy transition through energy storage.”

The company’s proprietary technology, PEAK IQ energy storage intelligence, has been instrumental in maximizing value for its customers. By using PEAK IQ, businesses have been able to reduce their electricity bills by up to 40 percent. Additionally, Convergent’s solutions have helped utilities defer multimillion-dollar infrastructure upgrades, further demonstrating the impact of its technologies.

Currently, Convergent has over 800 megawatts (MW) and 1 gigawatt-hour (GWh) of energy storage and solar-plus-storage systems either in operation or under development. This capacity is equivalent to the amount of power consumed by approximately 750,000 homes, underscoring Convergent’s significant role in advancing the clean energy transition.
