Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara Indonesia) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ACWA Power, the world’s largest private water desalination company and a global leader in energy transition and green hydrogen development.

In a parallel development, ACWA Power has also entered a strategic partnership with PT Pertamina, Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas company, to jointly pursue large-scale power generation and water desalination projects across the country.

The MoU between Danantara Indonesia and ACWA Power outlines plans for potential investments in Indonesia focused on renewable energy, combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plants, green hydrogen production, and water desalination.“ACWA Power is proud to deepen our presence in Indonesia’s power and water sector through these agreements. These partnerships represent our commitment to support Indonesia in achieving its long-term energy and water security goals, contributing to the development of a sustainable and greener future.” said Raad Al Saady, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of ACWA Power.

The second agreement between ACWA Power and PT Pertamina aims to drive the co-development of clean energy initiatives in Indonesia. This includes a cumulative 500 MW in renewable and gas-to-power projects, participation in upcoming electricity tenders, green hydrogen ventures, and collaboration in operations and maintenance (O&M) services.

Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Chief Executive Officer of Danantara, stated: “Our collaboration with ACWA Power represents a significant step inpositioning Indonesia as a key player in the global energy transition. This partnership brings both capital and expertise to accelerate high-impact projects in solar, hydrogen, and integrated water- energy solutions. It reflects our broader commitment at Danantara Indonesia to foster credible, long-term partnerships that support national priorities while delivering commercial value. By channeling state-owned resources into ventures withproven global players, we aim to catalyze sustainable growth, enhance energy resilience, and attract continued foreign direct investment. This is how we move toward a greener and more prosperous future—together.”

Simon Aloysius Mantiri, Chief Executive Officer of PT Pertamina, said:”Pertamina is fully committed to its dual growth strategy—ensuring national energy security while accelerating the energy transition. Our collaborationwith ACWA Power is a strategic step toward realizing this vision. By joiningforces on renewable energy, green hydrogen, and sustainable infrastructure, we aim to create tangible value for both nations and lead the region’s transformation toward a low-carbon economy.”
