DP World has struck an agreement in principle to build two new ports on the UAE east coast to maintain supply chain continuity in the event the Strait of Hormuz continues to disrupt shipping in years to come.
The agreement with the Fujairah Ports Authority, under a 50-year concession, involves developing Al Rugaylat container and multi-purpose terminal, and Dibba general cargo terminal.
The ports will be connected to Jebel Ali through DP World’s inland logistics network, and integrated with Jebel Ali Free Zone Association, extending the operator’s end-to-end supply chain.
Development will be delivered in phases, with construction expected to take approximately 24 to 30 months.
