The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to evaluate the parameters and cost assumptions for renewable energy (RE) technologies ahead of the Fourth Round of the Green Energy Auction (GEA-4). The session, which gathered key industry stakeholders, was aimed at addressing concerns before the Department of Energy (DOE) issues the Notice of Auction (NOA) on February 13, 2025.
Representatives from various industry organizations, including Developers of Renewable Energy for AdvanceMent, Inc. (DREAM), Philippine Solar and Storage Energy Alliance (PSSEA), Confederation of Solar Developers of the Philippines Inc. (CSDP), Philhydro Association Inc. (PHILHYDRO), Wind Energy Developers Association of the Philippines (WEDAP), Biomass Renewable Energy Association (BREA), and Huawei Digital Power Philippines, participated in the discussion. Each organization presented data-driven insights and technical references to assist in setting the Green Energy Auction Reserve (GEAR) Prices.
The FGD’s primary objective was to validate and refine the data used to determine GEAR Prices for different renewable energy technologies. The ERC emphasized its commitment to enhancing the accuracy of these prices and ensuring the continued progress of the Philippines’ renewable energy goals, aimed at achieving sustainable, secure, and affordable energy solutions.
