Websol Energy Appoints Vinay Vyas As CEO Of Websol Renewables, Targets 5,350 MW Solar Cell Capacity By 2028

Websol Energy System Limited has appointed Mr. Vinay Vyas as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its wholly owned subsidiary, Websol Renewables Private Limited, effective October 21, 2026. The appointment is part of the company’s efforts to strengthen its leadership as it expands its operations across the solar manufacturing and renewable energy sectors.

Mr. Vyas brings more than 18 years of experience in renewable energy and energy storage. During his career, he has worked on a clean energy portfolio exceeding 8 GW, with an estimated value of ₹24,000 crore. He also led the development of what is recognized as the world’s first integrated green hydrogen and ammonia project at ACME Cleantech.

His previous leadership positions include Chief Executive Officer of FusionX Energy, Group Lead and Vice President for renewable power, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and green hydrogen at the Welspun Group, and Director of the Global Renewable Energy Center at Canadian Solar. In 2025, he also chaired the Energy Storage Committee at the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI).

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Sohan Lal Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Websol Energy System Limited, said that Mr. Vyas’s experience in building and scaling renewable energy businesses would support the company’s expansion across the solar value chain. He added that the company’s three-decade legacy in solar manufacturing provides a strong foundation for future growth and long-term stakeholder value creation.

Mr. Vyas expressed enthusiasm about joining Websol Renewables, highlighting the company’s established presence and leadership. He said he would focus on scaling the business and working with the team to support its next phase of growth.

Websol reported revenue exceeding ₹1,000 crore in the financial year 2026 and has outlined plans to increase its manufacturing capacity to 5,350 MW of solar cells and 4,550 MW of solar modules by 2028.

Mr. Vyas’s experience in solar module manufacturing at Canadian Solar, alongside his expertise in energy storage and trading at FusionX Energy, is expected to support these expansion plans. The appointment strengthens Websol’s leadership capabilities as it seeks to increase manufacturing capacity and expand its role in India’s clean energy sector.
