FGM-Fabral, a leading manufacturer of metal post-frame materials, has announced the launch of “Fabral Solar”, a new division designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality steel racking systems in the solar energy sector. With this expansion, Fabral is extending its leadership in metal roofing to provide durable and efficient solutions for solar panel installations.

The North American solar market is experiencing rapid growth. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), solar energy accounted for 64% of all new electricity generation added to the U.S. grid in 2024, reflecting a 21% increase from the previous year. As solar adoption rises across commercial, residential, and agricultural sectors, Fabral Solar aims to streamline integration by offering robust structural solutions tailored to a variety of projects.

Fabral Solar is led by CEO Dennis Merino and Vice President Bruce Green, along with an experienced team. Founders Cummings and Canington, former executives at Bethlehem Steel before its sale in 2003, later established Baltimore Steel Partners, Inc., which played a key role in their transition into solar project installation. Their expertise in structural systems and renewable energy solutions forms the foundation of Fabral Solar’s approach.

John Cummings, Fabral Solar Co-Founder, “After 50+ years of providing solutions to the metal construction industry, Fabral is extending its reach into the solar energy industry in a significant way. Our team will leverage the Fabral knowledgebase in construction, to assist with the steel fabrication and roll-formed products utilized to support solar modules. Fabral Solar is designed to be a one-stop shop for all solar racking needs, utilizing our unmatched resources from Fabral and Flack Global Metals. To spearhead and boost this initiative from the onset, Fabral will begin to install solar panels on its existing buildings and properties.”

Bruce Green, mentioned “Fabral Solar positions us at the forefront of a rapidly expanding industry, broadening our market reach, strengthening partnerships in renewable energy, and reinforcing our commitment to sustainability. This addition not only provides new opportunities for growth but also allows our existing customers to stay ahead of the curve in energy-efficient construction as we simplify solar integration and make renewable energy more accessible.”

Built on innovation and adaptability, Fabral Solar addresses a critical need in the industry by providing strong, efficient, and easy-to-install mounting systems that enhance solar panel performance while integrating seamlessly with different building designs. The division is equipped to support a wide range of projects by working closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors and solar racking manufacturers to establish reliable supply chains.

It also offers specialized Fabral steel products tailored to solar installations and provides pre-assembled kits and components for buildings, carports, canopies, and solar farms. By leveraging Fabral’s expertise in structural solutions, Fabral Solar is well-positioned to support the evolving energy landscape, ensuring high-quality infrastructure that meets the demands of the growing solar industry.
