Greenvolt Secures €218 Million UniCredit Financing for 400 MW BESS Projects in Poland

Greenvolt Group has secured a €218 million financing package from UniCredit to support the development of its Ełk and Turośń battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Poland.

The financing comprises €153 million in bridge facilities and a €65 million guarantee facility. The package will support project-related costs for the two utility-scale BESS projects, which are being developed by Greenvolt Power.

400 MW / 1.6 GWh Combined Storage Capacity

Located in northeastern Poland, the Ełk and Turośń projects each have a capacity of 200 MW / 800 MWh, giving them a combined capacity of 400 MW / 1.6 GWh.

The projects are among the largest battery energy storage developments in Poland and are expected to support grid flexibility, renewable energy integration and energy security.

Turośń Kościelna was officially inaugurated in July 2026, while the Ełk project is expected to achieve commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2026.

“This financing package reflects the confidence that leading financial institutions place in Greenvolt’s capabilities and in the quality of the projects we develop,” said João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group.

He added that strong financing partnerships are essential to converting Greenvolt’s development pipeline into operational assets and creating long-term value.

UniCredit Strengthens Greenvolt Partnership

The financing further strengthens the relationship between Greenvolt and UniCredit, following previous transactions supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects across Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland, Romania and Hungary.

Adrian Góralski, Director of M&A and Project Finance at Greenvolt Power, said the agreement reflects increasing lender confidence in battery storage as a mature and bankable infrastructure asset.

Lazar Nikolic, Managing Director and Head of Infrastructure & Export Finance CEE at UniCredit, said the bank is supporting the development of approximately 400 MW of BESS capacity in Poland through the customised €218 million financing package.

The transaction underscores UniCredit’s continued focus on financing strategic green infrastructure and accelerating the energy transition across Central and Eastern Europe.
