The Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), the apex body for India’s electrical and allied electronics industry, successfully hosted its 78th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Convention 2025. At the AGM, Vikram Gandotra, Director of Industry and Policy at Siemens, was formally appointed as IEEMA President for the 2025–2026 term, succeeding Sunil Singhvi, Group Head of Public Policy at Secure Meters. Siddharth Bhutoria, Wholetime Director of RTS Power Corporation Ltd, was announced as President-Elect, while Shashi Amin, CEO of Cable Solutions at Apar Industries Ltd., was appointed Vice President for the upcoming term.
Upon taking charge, Vikram Gandotra expressed his gratitude and commitment to leading IEEMA during a period of dynamic growth, emphasizing the organization’s focus on enhancing global competitiveness, innovation, and sustainable development. Outgoing President Sunil Singhvi reflected on his tenure with pride, highlighting the strides made by the association and expressing confidence in the incoming leadership. The Annual Convention 2025, themed “Powering Progress,” served as a key platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among industry leaders, policymakers, and experts.
Sessions focused on the future of the electrical and allied industries, exploring emerging technologies, energy transitions, and opportunities for strategic partnerships. The convention emphasized a fast-moving, adaptive, and technology-driven industry, reflecting the spirit of ‘Make in India.’ With strong domestic capabilities, agility in strategy, and a commitment to renewables, the Indian electrical sector is rapidly expanding locally while establishing a significant global presence.
Industry leaders shared insights during the convention. Anant Goenka, Vice Chairman of RPG Group, highlighted the importance of timing, quality, and long-term planning for startups and MSMEs, urging investments in R&D and global branding. Hitesh Doshi, Chairman of Waaree Energy Ltd., noted the vast opportunities in India’s market, emphasizing the need to identify and deploy the right talent for both local and international success. S Vijayanand, President & CEO of Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Ltd., underscored IEEMA members’ contribution of 95% of India’s power sector infrastructure, with nearly $70 billion in capital equipment, 18% of which is exported.
Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh, Chief Economist at State Bank of India, reflected on India’s remarkable economic growth over the past decade and emphasized balancing long-term vision with short-term trends to achieve advanced economic status by 2047. Madhava Das, Wholetime Director at Larsen & Toubro Ltd., stressed the need for technology adoption, talent deployment, and long-term outlook to harness emerging opportunities in transmission, distribution, substations, data centers, solar, and AI, while contributing to climate action.
The convention reinforced IEEMA’s commitment to fostering growth, innovation, and sustainability in the Indian electrical industry. By supporting its members in adopting advanced technologies, expanding domestic and global footprints, and promoting renewable energy, IEEMA continues to play a pivotal role in shaping a resilient, competitive, and future-ready industry.
