IIT Palakkad Floats INR 5.83 Crore Tender for 1,252 kWp Solar Project At Sahyadri Campus In Keralam

The Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad (IIT Palakkad) has invited online item-rate bids for the installation of a 1,252 kWp solar power generation system at its Sahyadri Campus in Kerala. The tender has been issued through the institute’s Engineering Works Division as part of the permanent campus development project under Phase B. The initiative aims to expand renewable energy utilisation and strengthen sustainable infrastructure across the campus.

The project covers the supply, installation, testing and commissioning (SITC) of a solar power generation system, including solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, inverters, mounting structures and associated grid connectivity infrastructure. The proposed installation will serve various campus facilities, including academic buildings, hostels, dining areas and residential quarters. Through this project, IIT Palakkad intends to integrate clean electricity generation into its campus infrastructure and support the wider adoption of renewable energy.

The estimated cost of the tender is Rs. 5,83,44,429, or approximately Rs. 5.83 crore. Interested bidders must submit an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of Rs. 11,66,889 through the online payment gateway available on the E-Wizard portal. According to the tender conditions, bids submitted without the required EMD will be disqualified.

The successful bidder will also be required to provide a Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) or performance security equivalent to 5% of the estimated cost put to tender or the total bid amount, whichever is higher. This security must be submitted within 10 days of receiving the award letter. In addition, an extra security deposit of 2.5% of the tendered value will be deducted progressively from the contractor’s running and final bills, as specified in the tender documents.

The tender was published on October 14, 2026. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for October 21, 2026, at 10:30 am through online video conferencing. Interested companies must submit their electronic bids by November 3, 2026, at 11:00 am. The technical-cum-eligibility bids will be opened on the same day at 11:30 am. The date and time for opening financial bids will be communicated separately through the E-Wizard portal to bidders who qualify in the technical evaluation.

The selected contractor will be required to complete the project within 180 days, beginning on the seventh day after the award letter is issued.

The proposed solar installation represents another step in IIT Palakkad’s efforts to incorporate renewable energy into its permanent campus. By deploying a 1,252 kWp solar generation system across multiple buildings, the institute aims to strengthen its clean energy infrastructure and promote more sustainable campus operations.
