Indian stock markets ended on a positive note on July 6, 2026, with both benchmark indices closing higher as investors continued to show confidence in the market. The S&P BSE SENSEX gained 0.67% to close at 78,285.07, while the NIFTY 50 also rose 0.67% to settle at 24,433.10. Although the overall market remained strong, the green energy and power sector delivered a mixed performance, with some companies recording solid gains while others faced selling pressure.
Among the top gainers in the renewable energy space, Praj Industries attracted strong buying interest. The company’s shares rose 3.53% to close at Rs 366.40 on the BSE and Rs 366.20 on the NSE. Kabra Extrusion was another major performer, recording an impressive gain of 9.9%, making it one of the best-performing stocks in the sector for the day.
Reliance Industries also supported the market rally by gaining more than 1.3% and closing at Rs 1,321.50. In the power sector, Tata Power posted a gain of 0.79% to end the session at Rs 378.20 on the BSE. Borosil Renewables also moved higher, rising 0.85% to close at Rs 627.05. Public sector energy companies delivered modest gains, with GAIL advancing 0.40% to Rs 174.80 and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) adding 0.28% to close at Rs 142.00. Engineering and infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) also ended the day in positive territory with a gain of 0.32%, closing at Rs 4,039.70.
However, not all clean energy companies benefited from the positive market sentiment. Websol Energy emerged as the biggest loser in the sector after its shares declined 3.38% to close at Rs 103.05 on the BSE. Inox Wind also witnessed selling pressure, falling 1.33% to Rs 86.86.
Adani Green Energy, one of the leading renewable energy companies, slipped 0.43% to close at Rs 1,550.00. NTPC Green Energy Limited also ended lower, losing 0.44% to Rs 95.02. Battery makers witnessed slight declines as Amara Raja Energy & Mobility fell 0.34% to Rs 853.80, while Exide Industries slipped 0.19% to Rs 415.80.
Other renewable energy stocks also closed in the red. Olectra Greentech declined 0.89% to Rs 1,476.80, while Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy fell 0.53% to Rs 245.60. JSW Energy, Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), and Insolation Energy also recorded minor losses during the session.
Overall, the trading session reflected positive investor sentiment across the broader market, but the green energy sector remained mixed. Strong gains in a few companies were balanced by declines in several renewable energy stocks, indicating selective buying and cautious investor participation despite the market’s overall upward trend.
