Jakson Green Gopalpur Private Limited (JGGPL) has achieved precertification under the CertifHy EU Voluntary Scheme for its renewable hydrogen and green ammonia project in Gopalpur, Odisha, marking a significant milestone in aligning the project with European sustainability standards and strengthening its readiness for international markets.
The project is being developed as a renewable hydrogen and green ammonia production facility targeting both domestic and export markets. Planned infrastructure includes an electrolyzer bank and a Haber-Bosch synthesis loop with a nameplate production capacity of 600 metric tonnes of green ammonia per day. Commercial operations are targeted for FY2029-30.
The precertification assessed the project’s anticipated compliance with the CertifHy EU Voluntary Scheme for Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBOs), in accordance with the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive and its delegated regulations. The certification process is intended to provide investors, offtakers and future commercial partners with confidence in the project’s preparedness to meet European regulatory requirements.
According to CertifHy, early-stage precertification is increasingly being adopted by renewable hydrogen and green ammonia developers to support Final Investment Decisions (FID), facilitate investor and offtaker discussions, and strengthen access to export markets that require compliance with EU sustainability standards.
The assessment combined an independent audit conducted by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance), acting as a Cooperating Certification Body under the CertifHy EU Voluntary Scheme, with advisory support from Hinicio.
Bakul Pant, Chief Commercial Officer of Jakson Green Gopalpur Private Limited, said the precertification represents an important milestone for the Gopalpur Green Ammonia Project and reinforces its readiness for future export markets. He added that the Odisha-based facility is progressing steadily towards producing certified green ammonia from FY2029-30.

He noted that early engagement with European certification requirements helps developers build investor confidence, improve market access and position renewable hydrogen and ammonia products for global trade.
