Liverpool FC and US-based carbon capture, utilisation and sequestration firm 1PointFive have expanded their collaboration with the launch of a new range of club products for supporters.
Building on the commemorative jersey launched last year to mark the 20th anniversary of the ‘Miracle of Istanbul’, the collaboration will now include a new ‘Mighty Red’ teddy alongside ‘Red Ted’.
As part of the collaboration, the carbon footprint of both products will be addressed through direct air capture (DAC) technology from 1PointFive by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere equal to the amount generated from manufacturing up to the point of sale.
The launch builds on the companies’ work together to support the club’s sustainability journey through The Red Way, while also reflecting the continued expansion of its retail portfolio, offering supporters a wider choice of products across apparel, collectables, gifts and lifestyle ranges.
Lee Dwerryhouse, Senior Vice-President of merchandising at Liverpool FC, said, “As our retail offering continues to expand beyond kit, with a growing range of lifestyle products, accessories and collectables, partnerships like this allow us to create products that resonate with fans, strengthen their connection with LFC and support our wider commitment to exploring innovative and more sustainable retail opportunities.”
Anthony Cottone, President and General Manager at 1PointFive, added that the collaboration showcases how integrating DAC solutions can deliver differentiated product offerings while advancing sustainability goals.
1PointFive signed a carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credit agreement with Bain & Company, a global management consulting firm, .
Under the deal Bain & Company will purchase 9,000 metric tonnes of CDR from 1PointFive’s Stratos plant, a large-scale facility in Texas.
