LONGi and Cero Generation Launch UK’s First Back Contact Solar Project with 115MW Bramley Development

LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, has announced its key role in the United Kingdom’s first deployment of back contact (BC) photovoltaic technology through a landmark partnership with Cero Generation. As the exclusive module supplier for the 59MW solar component of Cero’s flagship Bramley Project—a 115MW co-located solar and battery energy storage system (BESS)—the collaboration marks both LONGi’s entry into the UK’s BC market and its first partnership with the pan-European renewables developer. Mr. Leon Zhang, President of LONGi Europe, commented, “The Bramley Project transcends conventional solar deployments – it’s a declaration that BC technology has arrived as Britain’s energy future. By selecting Hi-MO 9 for this trailblazing venture, Cero Generation demonstrates how visionary partners accelerate grid decarbonization through technological leadership.”

Marta Martinez Queimadelos, CEO of Cero Generation, noted, “LONGi’s cutting-edge BC modules align perfectly with our commitment to EU Taxonomy-compliant infrastructure. This collaboration ensures Bramley delivers maximum environmental impact while pioneering next-generation solar technology in the UK market.”

The Bramley Project, backed by a £200 million green financing package secured by Cero Generation, represents a major milestone in the UK’s clean energy evolution. Construction is slated to begin in autumn 2025, with LONGi’s high-efficiency Hi-MO 9 modules to be integrated alongside Sungrow’s battery storage systems, under the engineering leadership of Metlen.

As the UK’s first solar installation to adopt back contact technology—widely regarded as the pinnacle of photovoltaic performance—the Bramley Project sets a new standard for efficiency, innovation, and sustainability in the nation’s energy transition.
