LONGi Solar Europe will supply its Hi-MO 9 photovoltaic modules for a utility-scale solar portfolio being developed by Innovo Renewables S.p.A. in Italy. The portfolio has a total installed capacity of approximately 71 MWp and marks the first major utility-scale project between the two companies.
The projects will deploy LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 modules, which are based on the company’s second-generation HPBC 2.0 back-contact cell technology. The modules offer efficiencies of up to 24.8% and power output of up to 670 W. The technology eliminates front-side busbar shading, increasing the active light-receiving area and supporting higher energy conversion.
The modules will be installed on single-axis tracking systems designed to improve solar irradiance capture throughout the day. The tracker-based configuration, combined with the modules’ bifacial design, is expected to enhance both front-side generation and rear-side energy gains.
According to LONGi, the Hi-MO 9 modules have a power temperature coefficient of -0.26%/°C and are designed to maintain performance under low- and diffuse-light conditions. The modules have a first-year degradation rate of no more than 1% and annual degradation of no more than 0.35% thereafter, backed by a 30-year linear power warranty.
Fabio Ferlito, Group Managing Director, Construction at Innovo Renewables, said the company selected LONGi based on the efficiency and reliability of its module technology, which are considered important for meeting the performance targets of its solar plants.
Once fully operational, the approximately 71 MWp portfolio is expected to generate around 110 GWh of renewable electricity annually. The generation is projected to meet the electricity needs of more than 40,000 Italian households and avoid approximately 35,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
The deployment is also expected to serve as a foundation for further cooperation between LONGi and Innovo Renewables, with additional clean-energy projects under discussion across Italy and Europe.
