SJVN has concluded the auction for its 1,200 MW of ISTS-connected solar photovoltaic power projects integrated with a 600 MW/2,400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System across India. The auction witnessed strong participation and competitive bidding, reflecting growing interest in hybrid renewable projects. The lowest tariff discovered during the auction was ₹3.32 per kWh for power supplied with 4-hour storage support, with bids ranging narrowly between ₹3.32 and ₹3.33 per kWh.

Reliance NU Energies emerged as the largest winner, securing 350 MW at ₹3.33 per kWh. Although Reliance had bid for 600 MW, it was allocated 350 MW based on the bucket filling method. SAEL Industries was awarded 150 MW at ₹3.32 per kWh, while Jindal India Renewable Energy secured 300 MW at the same tariff. Sembcorp Green Energy Infra and JBM Renewables both won 150 MW each, also at ₹3.32 per kWh. Fastnote Fuels, also known as Hindustan Power, received 100 MW with a tariff of ₹3.33 per kWh. With these awards, the full 1,200 MW capacity under the tender has been allocated.

The tender was by SJVN Limited in September 2024. Power Purchase Agreements will be signed with the selected developers to supply power for a duration of 25 years. This project is aligned with the Indian government’s strategy to accelerate renewable energy development by combining solar generation with energy storage, thus enhancing grid reliability and energy availability during peak demand periods.

The total capacity offered was 1,200 MW, with minimum bid limits set at 50 MW and a maximum of 600 MW, in multiples of 10 MW. Projects in North-Eastern states and special category areas had a lower minimum threshold of 30 MW. The entire selection was conducted through electronic tendering followed by a reverse auction process.
