In a strategic dialogue on climate action, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, met with Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, President-Designate of COP30, in Riyadh to discuss collaborative efforts toward advancing global climate goals.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement, with both sides emphasizing the need for inclusive and balanced outcomes that respect national circumstances. COP30 is scheduled to be held in November 2025 in Belém, located in Brazil’s Amazon region.
Prince Abdulaziz briefed the ambassador on Saudi Arabia’s climate initiatives, highlighting the Kingdom’s large-scale renewable energy projects and its comprehensive approach to emissions management. Discussions also spotlighted Saudi Arabia’s flagship Saudi Green and Middle East Green initiatives, along with the national adoption of the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) framework as a central strategy to combat climate change.
The meeting reaffirmed both nations’ commitment to multilateral climate action and to driving sustainable transitions in line with regional and global priorities.
