SM City Fairview Rooftop Solar PV System by Buskowitz Energy Inc. Won Project of the Year: Renewable Energy

The SM City Fairview Rooftop Solar PV System by Buskowitz Energy Inc. has been named Project of the Year: Renewable Energy at the Philippines Sustainability Leadership Awards 2026, presented during Philippines Clean Energy Week 2026.

Recognised under the Project Excellence category, the rooftop solar installation was honoured as a landmark commercial renewable-energy project supporting clean-energy generation and the decarbonisation of commercial infrastructure in the Philippines.

The project demonstrates how large-scale solar photovoltaic systems can be successfully integrated into an established and actively operating retail complex. This achievement reflects the technical planning, project coordination and implementation discipline required to introduce renewable-energy infrastructure within an existing commercial environment.

Retail complexes offer significant opportunities for distributed solar deployment because of their substantial daytime energy requirements and available rooftop areas. However, converting this potential into an operating solar asset requires careful consideration of site conditions, safety, engineering, construction planning and long-term system performance.

The SM City Fairview Rooftop Solar PV System illustrates how these considerations can be brought together to create a practical clean-energy solution while supporting the continued operation of the host facility.

Delivered by Buskowitz Energy Inc., the project reflects an integrated approach to commercial and industrial solar development. The company’s capabilities span project development, financing, engineering, procurement and construction, operations, and long-term asset management.

The recognition also highlights the wider role of rooftop solar in reducing the carbon footprint of the Philippines’ commercial infrastructure. As shopping centres, offices, industrial facilities and other large energy users pursue sustainability objectives, on-site renewable energy can provide a direct pathway towards cleaner electricity consumption.

Projects such as the SM City Fairview Rooftop Solar PV System demonstrate that commercial buildings can become active participants in the energy transition. By using existing rooftop spaces for clean-energy generation, businesses can support decarbonisation without requiring separate greenfield development.

The Philippines Sustainability Leadership Awards 2026 formed part of the recognition programme at Philippines Clean Energy Week 2026, held on 09 October 2026 at Sheraton Manila Bay.

The event brought together policymakers, renewable-energy developers, investors, financiers, EPC companies, technology providers, corporate energy users and sustainability leaders. Its programme featured keynote addresses, three strategic panel discussions, two exclusive leadership roundtables, an industry exhibition, networking sessions and the Philippines Clean Energy Leadership Awards 2026.Receiving the Project of the Year: Renewable Energy award recognises the SM City Fairview Rooftop Solar PV System as an important example of commercial renewable-energy integration and celebrates its contribution to advancing more sustainable infrastructure in the Philippines.
