SolarEdge Technologies, Inc., has more than 500MWh of residential battery storage are now enrolled in Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs across 16 U.S. states and Puerto Rico.
This highlights SolarEdge’s growing momentum in the distributed energy sector and its strong partnerships with leading utilities and Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) providers. The company’s expanding VPP portfolio reinforces its commitment to unlocking new value for homeowners, third-party owners (TPOs), and utility partners through grid-interactive energy solutions.
Globally, SolarEdge continues to broaden its grid services portfolio, participating in VPP programs across Europe, Australia, and Canada. In the U.S., over 40 percent of SolarEdge residential battery sites are now active in incentive programs, enabling customers to earn financial rewards while helping stabilize the grid during periods of peak demand. By connecting thousands of home batteries into coordinated networks, SolarEdge enhances the value of distributed energy assets and supports the transition to a more resilient, flexible power grid.
Expanding Reach with New Programs Nationwide
SolarEdge’s VPP initiatives now extend across 16 states and Puerto Rico, with several new programs launched in 2025, including:
- Arizona Public Service (APS): A performance-based program rewarding customers who support grid stability during high-demand periods. Participants can earn $110 per kilowatt (kW) based on average battery discharge over the event season.
- Tucson Electric Power (TEP): The utility’s first residential battery-focused demand response program, offering homeowners up to $120 per kW (averaged across all events) for contributing to grid reliability during summer and winter. Payments are issued twice a year.
- South Carolina Expansion: Building on the company’s success with a leading North Carolina utility, SolarEdge’s new South Carolina solar-plus-storage program offers customers up to $624 annually in ongoing incentives.
- New York State Programs: Collaborations with National Grid, NYSEG, and Rochester Gas & Electric complement NYSERDA’s Expanded Storage Incentive, providing up to $6,250 per system.
These initiatives join the record-setting Demand Side Grid Support (DSGS) program in California and a first-of-its-kind program in Puerto Rico, both of which are establishing new benchmarks for distributed energy participation and grid resilience.
SolarEdge’s collaboration with EnergyHub enables seamless participation in VPP programs across North America through the EnergyHub Edge DERMS platform. EnergyHub, a leading provider of clean energy software and services, works with more than 120 utilities to manage over 1.8 million distributed energy resources (DERs) and 2.5 gigawatts (GW) of flexible capacity, supporting customer-centric VPP programs and cross-DER optimization.
