Soluna Unveils 75 MW Solar Project To Power Its First-Ever Green Data Center

Soluna Holdings, Inc., a developer of green data centers for high-performance computing applications such as Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence, has announced the signing of a term sheet for power for its latest project, known as Project Annie. This new 75-megawatt data center will be co-located with a 114-megawatt solar farm in northeast Texas, marking the company’s first solar-powered deployment. Construction on the project will move forward following the finalization of power purchase agreements, land use arrangements, and planning with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).

Project Annie represents a strategic step forward for Soluna as it expands its modular computing platform into regions rich in solar energy. Developed in collaboration with a major U.S. renewable energy operator, the data center is designed to make use of underutilized solar power by converting it into computing power for intensive digital operations. This aligns with Soluna’s broader mission to repurpose excess renewable energy for scalable and cost-efficient digital infrastructure. The project is also a meaningful addition to Soluna’s growing development pipeline, which now includes over 773 megawatts of computing projects powered by wind, grid, and solar energy.

John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna, said in a statement, “Project Annie is a game-changer. It’s our first project tapping solar energy, and it paves the way for sustainable computing that works in harmony with the sun. We’re proud to honor Annie Easley, a computing and energy pioneer, with a project that merges both worlds.”

As with previous projects, Soluna has named this new initiative in honor of a female pioneer in science and technology. Project Annie pays tribute to Annie Easley, one of NASA’s first African American computer scientists and mathematicians, whose work contributed significantly to advancements in rocket propulsion and energy systems. By integrating solar energy into its operations, Soluna continues to demonstrate how renewable power can support the future of digital computing, helping to reduce emissions while meeting the growing demand for high-performance data infrastructure.
